Cinema Saturday Challenge # 40

National Treasure 1 and 2 are the film this week, i have been MIA from the challenge for a few weeks but happy to be back in time for this one. i really love these films, i think its the computer nerd in me that loves codes and puzzles and historical adventures, the format of these films are very 'adventure game-ish" so no surprise they are in my DVD player from time to time.

Not to mention i have a little 'thing' about Nic Cage, did you know that? i have for the longest time! lol. In fact when i went to Madam Tussads in London the only figure i insisted on a pic with was Nicolas Cage, lol ...ahhhh if only he were real!

Anyway as the Brooke and Sankari already said, these films have a lot to say about family and family pride. So i decided to make a little CD folder to send to my grandparents in Wales, i send one a couple of times a year and i am overdue so was a good opportunity to get it done.

Inside is a pocket for the CD full of pictures and a pocket to put a handwritten letter.

the Cover is inspired by the Book of Secrets in the second movie, old leather bound book. i found a civil war map on Google and using mod-podge, i layered a few layers of scrunched up tissue adding ink with each layer to get the brown leather colour.(you will probably need to click on the pic to make it bigger to see the map) The chipboard pieces are a reference to all the symbols and ciphers in the film. Tied up with a strip of brown leather. i had to photograph it on this angle cause i made it so shiny!lol the letters photographed purple but i swear in real life they look navy!! weird

Babies and Ice cream

Not much to show the last few weeks, I haven't been well and what creative time i have managed has been going into the samples for the TSE Christmas Card Competition. The participants are really creating some beautiful stuff so make sure you pop over to the gallery and see their efforts.

Here are the two pages i have manged this last fortnight though. The first is using up some sassafrass, kaiser and sei scraps i had.

this shows some of the ice-cream creations the girls have made with their favourite play doh set: The Ice Cream Parlour.

The second is a do over page, from 'the pile', this one was a portrait i had taken when the girls were 8 months old! believe it or not they were still smaller than most newborns!

I used Basic Grey Porcelain range, I wasn't mad on this range but i wanted something to match the colours of the petaloo flowers and ribbons i salvaged from the old page, and i must admit i do like the birdcage paper (even if the whole birdcage trend went over my head, lol)

Christmas Card Contest @TSE ~ week 2

The challenge this week is to make a card inspired by a Christmas Movie. It can be a quote, or song from the film or costumes or scenes whatever you like.My selection is the Muppet's Christmas Carol. This is my favourite Christmas Movie, i just love it, its sweet and sad and funny.

My inspiration comes from my favourite song/scene in the movie, I think this song is so beautiful and really captures the truest meaning of Christmas, sung by frog definitely gives it a truly spiritual touch ! Although all jokes aside i am yet to see this scene with out blubbering! Here's the scene.

Basic Grey Wisteria Feature @ TSE

This range was a real delight to play with, you don't see many purples around and these were just gorgeous. There are a great mix of rich dark purples and browns and soft lilac and mints.. Just loved it!

Engaged; focuses on the darker purples and bold floral designs. A diagonal strip photo-matt showcases how beautifully colours of this range work together. The golden brown photo mat helps centre the photo on the diagonal mat.

Layers of bold flowers have been slightly moulded to add dimension and have been 3d mounted on the petal edges . The title is the Basic Grey Mini Monograms, i wanted them little more interesting so i brushed them with water and 'rubbed' off some of the colour a little pen and dimensional magic finish it off.

2; focuses on the pastels in this range, mint, lemon, and blue-violet , lots and lots of vertical and horizontal layers blend well for a soft and dreamy colour scheme. i have photo shopped a white border on the photo to soften the edges. The journalling has been computer printed directly onto pattern paper.

i stacked a few circles and topped it with a sticker journal spot, chipboard '2' and some cut flowers for a simple title. The multiple layers of this page create enough interest to not need much embellishing.

The treat bag is available as Free class at TSE, including down loadable templates. Here's an alternative version using another paper range and different fillers.

The fillers in this bag are a couple of flavoured coffee sachets, some nice tea, and some chocolates. Perfect for a cold winters day treat!

Happy Bird-Day Treat Purse

i made this set for Shannon's Birthday recently. She has very earthy taste in colours so these, yellow brown and green papers from stampin ups goodmorning sunshine range were a good choice. The bird stamp is from Pun Fun Set. I wrapped bottles of olive lotion and shower gel, a giftcard for the movies and a pile of chocolates.
